And also this one (which I've read)
A Passion in the Blood
The Cecil Saint-Laurent one looks like Lana Turner!
I had the Jean Plaidys from the 1970s when I was a teenager. I don't think I ever read them.... I just loved looking at the covers - partly to laugh at the goofy hairstyles, partly to imagine myself in those scenes.
Thanks Karla for mentioning another book I'll have to add to my list!!
Katherine - I have the Plaidy books but haven't read them yet. I was hoping to get to them this year, but I"m not sure it's going to happen...
Just thought I's pass on this info on the Cecil Saint Laurent listed. He actually co-wrote the screenplay and it is based on the book by Alfred Schirokauer, I assume it is the 1937 "dramatic biography" you have listed with the rather saucy cover given the time period. This appears to be a French movie, made in 1953, with actress Martine Carol as Lucretia. According to reviews it is a very white washed Lucrezia but with good historical details.
I have both of the 1950's hardcovers of Plaidy's books, (have only read the 1st one so far) if I can find the 1st one I will forward it to you. Before the current reissues, I lucked out and got my hands on some of her hardbacks, I wonder if those are easier or harder to find now?
priceless! The first cover looks like Kim Cattrall.
