Last year I read The Queen's Cross by Lawrence Schoonover which is about Queen Isabella of Spain (she financed Christopher Columbus' trip to the new world and her daughter was Katherine of Aragon, Henry VIII first wife). Schoonover wrote several historical fiction books in the 50's and some of them are being re-issued (a project taken on by Schoonover's great nephew). The Queen's Cross was release last fall and two more are being released this spring and are available via Amazon.

February 2009 - “Ignorant of his noble Venetian birth...he met and loved a beautiful Italian girl… midst the flames of fallen Constantinople and the crash of history’s first cannonade”- The New York Times
In a turbulent and changing world where old orders are threatened by a new strength rising from the desert, a young warrior discovers a history he had long forgotten and must choose between two worlds.

April 2009 - “Battles, betrayals, treacheries, diplomatic crises, all of them are set against a brightly colored pageant of medieval life.”- The New York Times
The young Prince was hated by his father, his powerful cousin, and challenged by a personal foe known only to his wife, his priest, and his alchemist.
This is the story of the resolute dreamer Louis and his supporters, who saw a nation’s unrealized potential and its way to greatness.
